Ball sculpture

The difference between stainless steel and plated stainless steel is that stainless steel is an alloy steel with a uniform texture that does not rust; whileplated stainless steel is a layer of other metals (such as chromium, nickel, copper, gold, etc.) that do not rust on the surface of stainless steel. It not only has anti-rust properties, but also improves its brazing properties, reduces high-temperature oxidation, improves thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, improves lubricity when manufacturing springs or wire drawing, improves smoothness, and has decorative properties.

1. Development
A new type of material with structure, corrosion resistance and antibacterial functions developed by a research group led by Yang Ke from the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences – antibacterial stainless steel has passed the scientific and technological achievement appraisal organized by Shenyang Science and Technology Bureau. The expert committee unanimously agreed that this achievement filled the domestic blank and reached the international advanced level of similar materials.
2. Function
Tested by authoritative units, the killing rate of antibacterial stainless steel to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus is above 99%, and it also has a significant killing effect on other bacteria such as Candida albicans, black fungus, etc., showing an excellent broad-spectrum Antibacterial properties and antibacterial persistence. The test of the National Institute for the Inspection of Drugs and Biological Products shows that the antibacterial stainless steel fully meets the national technical standards in terms of toxicity and human safety. While endowing stainless steel with antibacterial properties, the properties of the material, such as mechanics, corrosion resistance, hot and cold processing, and welding, are comparable to those of the original stainless steel.
3. Application
The successful development of antibacterial stainless steel provides a broad space for the development of antibacterial products. The development potential of antibacterial stainless steel products is huge, and the market prospect is extremely broad. In today’s society, many domestic manufacturers have expressed strong interest in antibacterial stainless steel. The research group is actively seeking support for the pilot test, and strive to convert the results into commercial products as soon as possible.

For this  sculpture, a golden bee is flying on the ball, and the bee’s abdomen is made of transparent fiberglass with a yellow bulb inside. Forms part unique to bees and looks like honey.
